Is there nowhere on the face of the Earth where opinion polls aren’t taken? In the wake of the 50-day Israeli assault on Gaza, parts of that tiny strip of land now look, according to photographs, like a moonscape of destruction. At least 10,000 homes were obliterated and thousands more damaged; at least 175 major factories were pummeled into the dust. Its only power plant was destroyed, damaging electricity, water, and sewage systems. Large apartment houses, as well as the ministry of education, schools, and other sites, were hit and sometimes reduced to so much rubble. It was all part of a massive Israeli assault on Hamas, several of whose senior leaders were assassinated, but also on the Palestinian population, involving what looked like collective punishment for its support of that organization or simply living in proximity to it. And indeed, with almost no hope of rebuilding much of their world any time soon, you might think that Palestinians would hold the Hamas leadership at least somewhat responsible for the destruction that has rained down, as assumedly the Israelis wanted them to. But a recent poll by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR), begun in the last day before the ceasefire took hold, and carried out, in part, amid the rubble that is now Gaza, suggests otherwise.

It finds that Palestinian opinion couldn’t be clearer.  Support hasn’t been this high for Hamas since 2006, when it won a fair and square democratic election. If a presidential vote were held today, the pollsters of PSR discovered, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh would beat Fatah’s Mahmoud Abbas hands down. Here are just a few of the findings: “79% [of Palestinians] believe that Hamas has won the Gaza War; 3% believe Israel came out the winner; and 17% believe the two sides were losers… If new presidential elections are held today and only two [candidates] were nominated, Haniyeh, for the first time since we have started asking about his popularity about eight years ago, would receive a majority of 61% and Abbas would receive 32%. [The] vote for Haniyeh stands at 53% in the Gaza Strip and 66% in the West Bank. Abbas receives 43% in the Gaza Strip and 25% in the West Bank… A majority of 53% believe that armed confrontation is the most effective means to establish a Palestinian state next to the state of Israel. Only 22% believe negotiation is the best means to establish a Palestinian state and 20% believe that popular non-violent resistance is the most effective route to statehood.”

As historically has often been the case, massive bombings and other assaults do not destroy the support of populations for movements or governments, but tend to solidify it. In other words, Israeli policy is reducing civilized life for Palestinians in a major way and yet increasing the urge both to fight on and the desire for revenge. It’s an ugly pattern and, as TomDispatch regular Noam Chomsky (whose latest book, Masters of Mankind, is due out this week) indicates today, it’s been going on in this same fashion for a remarkably long time, as Israel continues to gobble up Palestinian lands on the West Bank, while working to hem Palestinians in yet further in the Gaza Strip. What’s Next for Israel, Hamas, and Gaza?

On August 26th, Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) both accepted a ceasefire agreement after a 50-day Israeli assault on Gaza that left 2,100 Palestinians dead and vast landscapes of destruction behind. The agreement calls for an end to military action by both Israel and Hamas, as well as an easing of the Israeli siege that has strangled Gaza for many years.

This is, however, just the most recent of a series of ceasefire agreements reached after each of Israel’s periodic escalations of its unremitting assault on Gaza. Throughout this period, the terms of these agreements remain essentially the same.  The regular pattern is for Israel, then, to disregard whatever agreement is in place, while Hamas observes it — as Israel has officially recognized — until a sharp increase in Israeli violence elicits a Hamas response, followed by even fiercer brutality. These escalations, which amount to shooting fish in a pond, are called “mowing the lawn” in Israeli parlance. The most recent was more accurately described as “removing the topsoil” by a senior U.S. military officer, appalled by the practices of the self-described “most moral army in the world.”

 Below are a couple of following comments to the posting below – I just had to indulge. You just can’t get anymore disconnected than Eric Kirk is here. The pure outpouring of malevolent hatred for anyone that doesn’t submit to him, his right to judge, is astounding. This state of mind is where physical violence starts.

Yeh, well all I am trying to say is that at some point…we have to acknowledge that God (any and all of them) is not going to rescue us from ourselves.

Do we want to take responsibility at some point? If people really want to emulate this ‘godness’, with humility, peace and fairness – whats stopping them?

Could it be the endless character assassination, ridicule and bullying?

In past blog comments I’ve had considerable to say about the Brownshirt movement that is strong and assertive at particular local blogs. These racist, bigoted hypocrites took great exception to me and my right to make observations on their blogs. When they got personal, I took exception. These people, for the most part, live in this community, work and play, where I live. If you can terrorize and commit blog murder, a form of censorship, lie, slander and commit further acts of hate, you are a threat to this community. Some of these blogs are nothing more than gossip-mongering hen houses, just spreading the hate and filthy lying accusations. It may seem like harmless opinionating, but cut across a lie or try defending your own personal integrity against and you suddenly are confronted with a pack of rabid dogs trying to rip out your throat. What these Brownshirt thugs don’t realize, and I’m primarily talking about those running blogs, is that what they dish out is what they receive as their reward.

That is why when I read Eric Kirk’s latest act of hysteria, I just had to point it out for everyone. When I objected to Kirk’s personal attack like this on me, he censored me from his blog. Here he is in his own filthy words:

The one that is “dense and so fucking stupid” is Eric Kirk. He is a classic example of the Elitist demi-gods in our society telling everyone else how to think, believe and act. Eric first asserts the following:
I do not endeavor to “characterize” Israeli society.

And then he proceeds to establish his relevance and bonafides precisely by characterizing in very narrow terms the few people with Jewish ancestry he’s encountered

“….having been immersed in socialist left wing politics all of my life which is very heavily Jewish influenced

my in-law Jewish family on the subject, including my wife’s communist grandmother,”

Though Israeli may be a very diverse lot, the Jews Eric whole expereince is with certainly aren’t but it supports the stereotype Eric wants to promulgate and reinforce, Jews are left wing. Eric is sickening because he truly believes the form of antisemitism that falsely characterizes Jews as being anarchists and revolutionaries.

But that’s not enough for Eric. The most damning form of antisemtism he’s yet divulged is to come:

But they[Israelis] are brought together by the fact that they are broadly hated in the west as “Zionists,” “Christ killers,” and in recent decades “infidels.”

And Eric can’t understand why a Jewish homeland in Germany was rejected

While Nazi antisemitism denied Jews humanity, Eric’s is more insidious. He denies Jews their religion. and declares them to be defined as the objects of others’ hatred. In that way, Eric promotes a recasting of Toynbeeism.

What truly unites Jews is devotion to their holy scripture. For the sake of that alone, many Jews have chosen death. The willingness to sacrifice for that, if absolutely necessary, is what perpetuates the Jewish nation. And other Jews have forsaken it, choosing to assimilate and pass on only shadows of a former heritage.

The disaffected, alienated, or disgruntled Jews are among the ones Eric encountered and has extrapolated onto all Jews and Israeli society. His ideas about Jews in general and Israelis in particular are just stereotypes from the political camp he takes in as whole cloth and denies Jews their Jewishness.

I’m standard-issue secular American Jew. The Jewish people I grew up with very definitely considered themselves “to be defined as the objects of others’ hatred.” Nearly to a one, we had no interest in scripture. We defined ourselves by our maintenance of various traditions associated with the religion, but nobody believed God was involved in the events the traditions celebrated. Matzoh is not belief.

Mitch, your response exactly matches my points. “Standard secular American Jews”(its an absurd notion that a secular Jew is ‘standard’) aren’t a continuing line or predecessors for a future Jewish nation or Jewish State. You’re Toynbee’s poster child of why Jews shouldn’t exist today.

So, there you are. If you go to this comment (click on the date) and follow along, since writing this observation Eric has apologized with his usual hypocritical sarcasm and ridicule. An apology is not worth the words when you continue to justify your right to do what you did in the first place – keep right on attacking and terrorizing.

The Brownshirt Solution is a Real Life Tragedy

Where it all starts: The Brownshirt Real Life Tragedy as they touch REAL people with Totalitarian Solutions.

In the 150 years or so since the Civil War you would naturally believe, after all the World Wars, all the fighting and dying, all the sacrifices that were paid for the right to be free men and women we would be living in a modern utopia of glutinous freedoms and liberties, with universal justice. Rather than living in a world of barbaric cannibals daily gorging themselves on – eating our rights to be free and independent citizens charting our course in this life to all our unalienable rights, i.e.,

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

What we get, and this is a good example, of the real time social barbarism and terrorist philosophy that drives or empowers such dark age beliefs. In America the victims are just thrown into solitary confinement for life – a form of tortured murder or execution. It’s called indefinite detention without trial, in some cases. These beliefs are then translated into laws that justified some of the worlds most abhorrent despots and murderous tyrants. Today millions of Americans are incarcerated and for what? Not being white? How many innocent people were forced to plead to a police frame-up that stupid or racist jurors and corrupt judges rubber-stamped into prison?

I’m talking about this blog and this particular article: “Another tragic incident, with a pitiful outcome well short of Justice” – Be sure to read the comments to get the full impact.

It all seems innocuous enough, right. Just conversation trying to work out a reasonable solution.

What makes this serious for everyone is how this kind of conduct extrapolate into real life and dramatically affects our social community to its everlasting detriment. You can’t spit on the sidewalk without committing a felony. The police are lawless in their own right and replicate that attitude when dealing with everyone. When was the last time anyone challenged Humboldt Superior Court Judge Dale Reinholtsen for that position or any other Superior Court Judge?

Knee-jerk justice speaks for itself. Extreme knee-jerk laws tend to create injustice. You can’t cure a disease by trying to treat the symptoms.

When I first read this article I accidentally reblogged it as a test of the feature. When it didn’t show up on my Blogger Page I assumed it didn’t work. WordPress Reblog only works on WordPress Blogs. When I noticed it had worked I decided to leave it with an additional caveat. I wouldn’t want anyone to think I was supporting a Brownshirt blog.

The Rise of the Blogging Brownshirts

The deadly Brownshirt Trolls are hard at work spreading their lying filth and disease-ridden innuendo wherever someone will let them. Blogger Brownshirts are self-defined by their actions that equate to their predecessors’ historical murderous conduct; THEY PERSONALLY ASSAULT PEOPLES’ CREDIBILITY, INTEGRITY, HONESTY AND LEGITIMACY to shut them up permanently.

On April  15, 2014, I included the following thoughts in another re-posted article. In view of the current situation manifesting in local blogs, it appears it needs to be reemphasized:

If you don’t know, Brownshirts are a collection of thugs who get quite annoyed at those who oppose” them, their judging, their propaganda, wanton personal hyperbolic attacks and their sick never-ending filthy lies they believe they have the god-given right to assault with anyone they want. In the real world of yesterday they were nothing more than a gang of bullying political murderers that paraded around in all their glorious self-righteous impunity. Today, none of them are of the 1% oligarchic plutocracy, but they serve them just the same as their modern-day “Brownshirts.”

When you censor and block dissenting commenters you reveal yourself as a sponsor, enabler and protector of these vicious Brownshirt Trolls.

So far I’ve identified five of blogs providing a safe-haven for two chapters of Brownshirts.

One of these blogs I’ve already identified and written about. The others, not wanting at this time to provide easy access or advertise in their behalf, I won’t post any links. Just know that when you see these pictures where you are.

If you read Eric Kirk and His Brownshirts – Called Out Again below, you can easily recognize the Brownshirt Trolls’ method of operation as Eric Kirk provides a perfect demonstration. First, should you choose to make a dissenting comment about the blog article or any of it’s affirming commentary, you will be challenged by the most personal and vilifying diatribe, hyperbole, innuendo, and out right lies such as: “Only an idiot or a crazy lunatic would say that or take that opinionated position.” Those kinds of filthy personal accusations are directed at the credibility and integrity of the person making the comment and NOT at the substance of the comment. But not so in Eric Kirk’s mind.

In his mind the opinion or idea – the position – is idiotic or crazy. But that is NOT what he said and wrote.

Should the hapless victim try to defend him or herself, they have just proved Kirk’s assertion (accusation) that they are either an idiot, crazy or both. Who but such people would conflate themselves with their “position” or worthless opinions rattling around in their empty heads and be “personally” offended? Score another one for the Brownshirts.

The problem when entering one of the Brownshirt Havens is you are stepping into a maze of quicksand totally in the dark. Most of the blogs never post any kind of guidelines or rules for making comments on their blogs. Those that do post something use them to discriminate against anyone they don’t like. Clearly, in the example above, Kirk’s personal accusation deviates from the blog article or it’s theme no matter what it might be. Yet, it is the defender that the rule, oftentimes unspoken “rule,” is used against should that person dare object to the personal off-theme attack.

In the world of blogging I would consider these thug, bullying Brownshirt’s antics incidental and irrelevant. Between the gossip-mongering, hatemongering, ridiculing, and lying about what people say, most of these blogs are nothing more than Troll Dens serving as home-bases for a Brownshirt Chapter. They possess NO credibility whatsoever.  I’ve learned over a lifetime that when these kinds of people raised their viperous heads and began spewing their dishonest vitriol and it was generally passed off by the decent folk as a fad — well lets just say, they lived to regret their amorphous judgments. Taken literally, the original Brownshirts, their political and general philosophy for existence; what guided and justified their actions as compared to these local Brownshirts, is a mere bullet.

Everything, all creation, starts with an idea. Once that idea becomes accepted commonplace it materializes into reality. These Blogger Brownshirts are only one bullet away from that reality.

I’ve identified another Haven. This comment is another good example that the blog owner affirms and lets go unchallenged for blatant bald-faced lying. Brownshirts’ purpose is to SILENCE all dissenters – people that don’t bow down and worship the Plutocratic Oligarchy they support, empower and defend. I, frankly do NOT give a rat’s ass who agrees or does NOT agree with me.

I wonder….

There’s some guy out there who lately has taken to calling everyone who disagrees with him “Brown Shirts.” It would be very disappointing to find out Mr. Berg and this other fellow were one and the same.

For the record, no one is “evil” (except puppy abusers) and no one is a saint. We are just a bunch of folks trying to figure out the best way through this mess called life.

(Who made this scummy bastard God? “For the record” that statement is just his worthless opinion, and I do mean worthless. The fact that he presumes to speak for everyone belies his wannabe truth – what makes him illegitimate.)

When someone disagrees with us (Progressive, Regressive, Conservative, Liberal) it does not mean someone wants to get the trains going so they can ship their opponents to the Death Camps. It’s supposed to be a civil discussion, where consensus is reached and we make policy for ourselves we can all live with.

(No, in his case, they just put a bullet in your head – they censor you, they block you the moment you reject their lying false accusations and disease-ridden innuendo – see above. In that he mirrors his true father, and He is truly the Evil Father of the Lie. “Civility” died with the first lie. The Brownshirts turned it all into war.)

As noted before, Blogs are a good measure of a community. You get mostly unfettered articles on subjects that interest the blog owner and often enough, a whole panoply of commentary from visitors that sets the community tone – from the mundane nonsense, racist, bigoted, biased, prejudiced, moronic, ignorant, stupid, baseless, filthy lies, innuendo, false accusations and other hate-filled mongering blather, ad hominem, hyperbole to enlightening, inspirational, intelligent, commonsense instructional and fun reading. Occasionally, you get a replica of what if feels like to live in a totalitarian, authoritarian Elitist State when you visit one of these blogs and make a comment. The Nazi Brownshirts that possess an IQ of a pig come out in droves fully blessed and empowered by the Blog owner and moderator to attack and verbally assault, bully and ridicule. All the time proclaiming their right as a free American to wage verbal warfare on the unsuspecting visitor. They wait with baited breath for you to try to defend yourself so they can justify their “right” to assault you as a hate mongering Troll.

Like most houses of ill repute, they look nice on the outside, are inviting and full of promises, the beauty they offer is breathtaking, but deliver a slow death. That is why they cater to the intellectually adolescent, the brainwashed 5 year old, full of feel-good propaganda that only knows what they believe.  Consequently, they are incapable and unable to accept or handle the truth. To them, truth becomes hate speech.

When I start the Joe Blow Report I determined to be inclusive and list all the local blogs. My interest in Southern Humboldt garnered me an introduction to Eric Kirk and his SoHum Parlance II. Occasionally, he would introduce a subject of interest and I would comment on an observation or two. The end result, well — his latest comment pretty much says it all — his true feelings about me and my commentary.

Actually Joe, what I noticed is that when the threads were no longer perpetually dominated by nonsensical posts from you, Forest Queen, and Suzi, participation from everyone else actually picked up. [Emphasis mine.]

But that wasn’t all. He runs an open blog, everyone can comment on anything they want. He posts NO rules; from time to time he says he knows what he doesn’t like when he sees it, and deletes the comment — so ultimately, commenting on his blog is like going into court and having a  judge tell you, “Make your best case and I’ll decide which laws apply, if any.” No way to defend yourself there; it’s all about the judge.

He says the “thread were no longer perpetually dominated by nonsensical posts.” I would encourage the reader to go to his blog and look at the mountain of “nonsensical blog posts” under, All Things Reconsidered on KMUD Tonight – “What can change your mind? that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the theme that he actively participates in. OH Yeah! There are at current time 424 comments.

It seems he doesn’t run such an “open” blog after all. To impress everyone who is boss, without a word despite what he says now, he banned Forest Queen some time ago. When he did that he never said anything about moderating Suzy or my comments. I stopped making comments after reading his personal and insulting comments justifying his arbitrary behavior. Speaking for myself, I’m not a grammar school child in Eric Kirk’s school for ignorant morons. Recently, different commenters have been asking about Forest Queen and why she can return to make comments. Eric Kirk explains why she can’t:

Forest Queen was banned because I received about half a dozen complaints from people telling me offline that they no longer come here because she dominates every thread and dilutes every discussion with incoherent nonsense, apparently just for kicks. I gave several warnings.

The last straw was a thread in which there had been a very interesting discussion which dissolved when she made about 7 or 9 straight nonsensical posts – the discussion was dead.

I don’t actually remember anything she posted about law. I’m sure she did, but nothing that struck me as anything intellectually memorable.

There are plenty of other blogs for her to play her games on. She can start her own. [Emphasis mine.]

I would like to point out that his justification is totally bogus, without basis. No one can “dominate” any thread or dilute any “discussion,” with what he judges to be “incoherent nonsense,” not unless you are an illiterate moron. Besides, to a five year old almost everything adults talk about is “incoherent nonsense.”

When Suzy posted a comment on the above reasons, I decided to test him and see if he had banned me from commenting too. This is what I got when I posted the following comment:

After blocking Forest Queen my tolerance for Eric Kirk’s in-your-face hypocrisy and his unAmerican supporters’ hyperbolic justification tanked. Promised myself if ever had anything to say I’d publish on my own blog, but this is unreal. Whatever Eric Kirk thought to do and now justify is really amusing, not to mention so ever satisfying to witness his exposure. You shit in your own bed Kirk and don’t even know it.

Has anyone bothered to take a look the the extent of this blog thread (alone), as of this writing 421 comments, with its extensive, “dominating and diluting” massive blather, “with incoherent nonsense,” and compare it with Eric Kirk’s reasons for banning (censoring Forest Queen)? While at the same time promoting himself as a champion patriot, defending the rights and freedoms consistent with or to a democratic society. You couldn’t ask for a more perfect example of a “dead thread” totally unrelated to the original blog posting. Talk about rank, rotten hypocrisy – the stench permeates my offices so bad I had to turn off the computer.

What goes around always comes around,” Kirk, and that is the real reason people stopped associating with you. You, actually, did us all a favor, in particular Forest Queen.

Interestingly, even though I am not outright banned, Eric DID post this comment with the following answer:

The question I ask is, Who is proven to perpetually dominate his bog with nonsensical posts now? The stupid, inane commentary boiling out of his blog now rivals all comments made by Forest Queen, Suzy or me.

Be assured, SoHum Parlance II is NOT the only blog in Humboldt County to act this way. The Brownshirt movement is rather extensive. They threaten everything decent, lawful people hold dear.  This class of people are at war with the decent, the generous, the knowledgeable and the law abiding champions of truth, justice and the right to self-defense. They pose a real and abiding threat to our survival, as a nation, as a people and as a community.  While they live in relative obscurity on blogs and on the Internet, they live among us and project and enforce their evil will.


[UPDATE May 14, 2014]  Trolls at Work ala Eric Kirk

Eric demonstrates his disdain for people that do NOT agree with him and his Elitist’s right to lawless judging. The old admonition: “buyer beware” is certainly appropriate for anyone making comments on his blog. Disagree with him or any of his Brownshirts and the moronic obscene, demeaning, derogatory ridicule exceeds what no decent person will accept. So, enjoy his kind of propaganda at your own peril.

Is This Guy an MRE?

I’m not sure Eric Kirk rises to the status of an “Elite.” As a younger person than I, recollecting upon previous statements of his, he came into the heart of the Emerald Triangle in its heyday. He’s worked in Southern Humboldt, supporting that community as a businessman and a lawyer. That community, with rare exception embraced the counterfeit prosperity brought in by a sub-culture of outlaw marijuana growers, sellers and exporters. While to local business people postured over the lawlessness of these criminals, they were certainly not loath to look the other way as they raked in all those cash dollars. The consequences are over 50 years of generational corruption, moral and ethical debasement.

Someone dumped a bunch of spent marijuana grow soil into the Arcata Bottoms, disturbing a very vulnerable habitat.  The Arcata Eye has the photos.We know nothing about the people who did the dumping, and I know there are much worse transgressions than this – but what is clear is that there is a certain nihilist element in the growing community which becomes evident with each headline.  This incident visually symbolizes what appears to be a decline of ethics and increase in self-centered disregard for community in an industry which is broadly trying to become legit.  This is what leads public figures to rail about “unholy alliances” and will certainly contribute to a very definitive backlash.

Maybe some values are simply not surviving from one generation to the next? [Emphasis added]

“First generation growers” “who moved here for the money”? I wonder where she got that idea. I was there at that time and I can tell you “they” – most “they(s)” – didn’t move here for the money or “the lifestyle.” They were just trying to survive the only way they knew how. “Lifestyle” – That’s her romantic fantasy.

Hilarious, no? A symbol of “decline of ethics and increase in self-centered disregard for community“? You’ve got to be kidding me! What “community” is he talking about? I’d like to know what kind of “ethics” and “values” he’s talking about. Only a “self-centered nihilist” lawyer “elitist” would ever look at the corruption caused by the “unholy alliances” between the amoral business “community” and the morally corrupt pot grower and fifty years later ask if someone’s dumping “a bunch of spent marijuana grow soil into the Arcata Bottoms” is a “decline in social – community norms. The Substance of a Twittering Democrat

The Joe Blow Report came to a towering decision this week, wrote a specific comment to see if the decision was justified – it was, so now we move on. From the beginning of this blog our interests were directed locally. Since our roots are in Southern Humboldt we concentrated on blogs originating there. For example three come to mind, (1)Ernie Branscomb (a punk I went to school with – [my school-time opinion of him] – it hasn’t changed in 50 years), (2) Kym Kemp and (3)Eric Kirk. Kym was conversational and seemed open-minded – turns out she’s not, and the Great Kirk, a Garberville celebrity. Go there, check them out. Each has an interesting and informative website. They also have a rather faithful and diversified list of followers. Each are an absolute authority on all matters relevant to themselves. Think not? Just question them or make a critical comment on something they assert, and they’ll straighten you out in a heartbeat. If they don’t, just be patient some of their adoring fans will. Of course, afterwards if you are lucky, you’ll believe that you just managed to escape a lynching.

Between the three blogs and the select people that regularly made comments on these blogs it was easy to get a pretty good cross-section on the thinking and status quo of the local SoHum community. Each of these three people are unique in their own way. Their writings vary with their ages and experience in life. What they believe and how they approach life is clearly evident. In time I was able to ascertain that all three possessed one equalizing quality: The all believe they are of the elite class of Americans. They’re really only wannabes, but that doesn’t slow them up when it comes to talking down to those that challenge their make-believe status.

Not only are they wannabes, they are not very decent to anyone that’s not a groupie. They all open their blogs to anyone wanting to join in on the conversations they post, but when they don’t want to acknowledge a specifically directed question or comment offered to them, they just look down their respective arrogant elitist noses and ignore you. Doing that in public is simply RUDE. It is also indecent, demeaning and derogatory. What bloggers that do this don’t realize is what they are saying about themselves. It is how they are defined, or define themselves, as wannabe little elite gods. It doesn’t take the other participants long to pickup on what’s going on and join in on the circle-jerk.

All they have to do if they don’t want to talk to someone is simply tell them, “you’re not welcome on this blog.” But then, that would require them to lower themselves to the “sub-human” level, and then they’d be admitting to everyone that, in their heart of hearts, they’re really not “wannabes.” When you accuse someone of being a second class citizen and then treat them like some pariah, you certainly can’t expect that bully to be decent, now can you? So, why would they listen to anything you have say? They won’t and they don’t. The fact is, they try to use what you say against you every time.

When I think of these people I am reminded of the first time I read the Charles Dickens’ novel, The Tale of Two Cities. I think this is what’s happening in America. These wannabe Aristocrats will be worse then the real Power Elites by the time this mess shakes itself all out. By then I don’t think it will matter. They’re already doing a pretty good job. They’ve got their “mock” guillotine working pretty darn good too – you either agree to their unsubstantiated, unproven and unsupported opinions telling you what to believe and think or – off with your head.   Read the rest of this entry »

Fiddling While Rome Burns II

This commentary by Glenn Greenwald today Monday, November 8, 2010, The self-absorption of America’s ruling class seemed appropriate for inclusion in this one-sided discussion on all matter’s important with Eric Kirk et al. It seems that when you traverse some of the ostensibly more important, relevant and timely local blogs ( I offer two examples below) you find the same kinds of (mostly) meaningless dribble as you do in the nation as a whole – certainly in the “Mainstream Media.” Here Greenwald is highlighting what he calls a “perfect exhibit of our self-absorbed political culture.”  This is appropriate to Eric because as he says he made politics “a practice and a study since I was a teenager.”

With a massive unemployment crisis, millions of foreclosures, rampant elite lawlessness and plundering, and pervasive, severe anxiety over America’s decline, this is what the “groups that matter in American politics” are anonymously complaining about:

Greenwald concludes by saying:

There, ladies and gentlemen, is the mentality of the “groups that matter in American politics.”  That’s what these people are worried about and focused on.  Some of the anti-Obama grievances cited by Politico are marginally less trivial though still on the level of political process complaints (rhetorical and communication failures on the part of the White House).  But almost all of them are voiced anonymously.  That Wall Street and other financial executives have spent the last year petulantly complaining about how unfairly they are treated — as their wealth continues to boom while the rest of the population suffers — was, in my view, one of the year’s most vivid expressions of the degradation of America’s political culture.  That “the groups that matter” are preoccupied with these sorts of prerogative-denying slights — while Politico gives them front-page anonymity to whine about those grievances — is definitely another.  We have the country we have because of the character of the people who run it. [Emphasis added]

The people who run this country are elected by a voter majority. So, what does that say about the voter?

Ever hear the anachronism “Nero fiddling while Rome burns”? Well, that’s you in a nutshell.

For me, since you, like so many of your contemporaries have limited ability to engage in a meaningful, and honest way – more invested in vociferously expounding your own opinions – shouting down contrarian confronters, I’ll end this foray with the following observation. A rather knowledgeable individual, Michael Hudson puts another nail in this coffin for me. He spoke on Democracy Now this morning. The link for the complete interview is here. Unless you (not necessarily you Eric, but everyone else that reads this posting) read the complete interview you probably won’t understand how printing money to devalue the dollar is waging war with the world and how the world is fighting back, not to mention what that means to all Americans and their phony dollar supporters. Some pertinent excerpts:

New $600B Fed Stimulus Fuels Fears of US Currency War

The Federal Reserve will pump $600 billion more into the US economy and keep interest rates at historical low levels. The short-term impact of the Fed’s move, known as quantitative easing, has been a jump in stock prices across the globe. Many nations, however, have accused the United States of waging a currency war by devaluing the dollar. *** Hudson: “The object of warfare is to take over a country’s land, raw materials and assets, and grab them,” Hudson says. “In the past, that used to be done militarily by invading them. But today you can do it financially simply by creating credit, which is what the Federal Reserve has done.”

AND:

… Brazil’s president-elect Dilma Rousseff said, quote, “The last time there was a series of competitive devaluations, it ended in World War II.”

China has accused the US of uncontrolled money printing. By devaluing the dollar, the Fed is cheapening the price of US exports and making foreign imports more expensive. In addition, the low interest rates are encouraging US corporations to make massive investments overseas, cheaply buying up foreign real estate, natural resources and stock.

From my perspective, the most important part of his interview preceded what he says below. While you intellectualized and analyze the latest vote, the winners, the losers and what that might mean for everyone and our future, you totally miss what’s really happening to this country. Michael Hudson, at least to serious and honest people, brings that reality into sharp focus in one word: “CORRUPTION.” Obama inherited this war and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit that he was handpicked to continue prosecuting it. He then, to bolster his real base, turns around and uses the same tactic used to get him elected. If the Tea Party hadn’t messed things up, by all accounts, they’d control both the House and Senate, Supreme Court and the White House. At that point this country becomes a one-party dictatorship. Is that what most American’s want? To be told how free they are while being ruled by a dictator? In the meantime, all he does is continue to prop up and protect the fraud, the fraudulent, the corrupt and the universal corruption, with the following consequences:

And what they’re pointing out is that in Europe, in Germany and all of Europe, it’s illegal for the central bank to finance government debt. All of Europe is being subjected to austerity now because of the way in which their constitution is written. So they’re saying, “Wait a minute. When we run a deficit, we have to raise interest rates and impose austerity. And in the United States, they are doing just the opposite. They’re lowering interest rates to buy us out.”

And the interview of Professor Stiglitz (economist Joe Stiglitz) here was quite right. America is doing all of this. The Fed is doing this to cover up the huge fraud that he talks about. He’s right. These people should be in jail, and you shouldn’t bail them out. You’re keeping the debt that was run out by the junk mortgages and the fraudulent lending, you’re keeping that in place, pricing American labor out of the market, and making it impossible for America to earn its way out of debt. So, in Europe, they’re saying, “How can America ever repay these dollar debts that they’re running up?” They can’t repay, and that’s why the euro is going up against America. And that’s why they say, “We want to now talk to the BRIC countries, to China, to the third world, and move into a currency area with them and just isolate the dollar, so they can’t do the kind of financial warfare that they’ve been engaging in. [Emphasis added]

What Obama has done to America and how:

AMY GOODMAN: What is—overall, what do you think President Obama should do, and what do you think he did wrong, since people say it’s the economy that took him down in the elections?

MICHAEL HUDSON: He has always represented Wall Street’s interest. The deal he—his protector in the Senate was Joe Lieberman and part of the Democratic Leadership Council. And during the last presidential campaign, he won because he said he was for change. And Dennis Kucinich kept saying, “Here is the change in the law that I’ve recommended.” He said exactly what he would do. Mr. Obama never said what he would do. And it’s obviously the case that he saw that the public wanted change. If you want to get elected, you say that you’re for change.

But what he’s turned into is the third Bush-Cheney administration. He’s reappointed the worst of the Bush people, like Tim Geithner as the Treasury secretary. He’s kept on the most right-wing of the Clinton people as his economic advisers. He is essentially in Wall Street’s pocket. And that’s not changed at all. And that’s why so many people were so disappointed. They believed that he was going to be for change, and he’s a good speaker, but he had no intention of doing the change at all, as we now see.

And he still has not come out and said that America needs anything except more debt, more bailouts for the banks. People were angry because the banks were bailed out. And now the Republicans will say he didn’t give them enough. They’re angry because he didn’t give Wall Street enough and cut taxes enough on the rich. That’s not why people are angry. They’re angry because he gave money to the rich, the exact opposite.

This Elite Class that controls the phony money (Market Street and the Federal Reserve System among others) is at war with the World. They promise their “worldly” counterparts that cooperate with them, those complicit in this war that sell out their countries and their people, a share in this World Rule and all their ill-gotten gains. The problem for us is that they are not only trying to loot the world, they are at war with the American people and fanatically looting them too. That should tell you how insane they are and how far they are willing to go to control everything and everyone.

If there ever was a One World Government trying to exert itself, this is it.

By the way, this whole process, this “War,” to establish this pseudo ruling class under God, got started before the American Civil War. In fact, some believe it was the consequence of “This War” that got President Abraham Lincoln assassinated. The die was cast when President Woodrow Wilson sold out and went along with setting up the Federal Reserve System in 1913. It took another 68 years before President Ronald Regan was able to re-energize the war and the movement that nearly failed, in large part due the the New Deal and other people-empowering actions. The success of the War was questionable until the coup in 2000 and the incident on 9/11/2001.

So Eric, you might want to rethink your so-called “realistic” and “substantive” approach. What is – IS and no one can change that. Vilifying and trying to disparage the messenger is a tool of these war-mongering would-be Elitists. They think the election results has re-energized and legitimized them in this country and in the world. They are already trying to shout down anyone that calls them on their fraudulent, phony bullshit. They know that the REAL “War” has NOT failed or been lost — yet.

I am posting this statement by Glenn Greenwald is his Salon.com column today because it goes right to the heart to previous discussions with Eric Kirk, the one above and his July 9, 2010, posting: Simi Valley comes to Oakland involving his most recent post about the same subject: Two Year Verdict for BART Station Killing. Here, in this article, excerpt below, Greenwald defends himself from people that make documented statements then violently deny what they said by making the same kinds of personal hyperbolic attacks razed against me for similar types of observations.

With that strategy, the Democratic Party now reaps what it has sown.  Its message and identity are profoundly muddled, incoherent, unclear, uninspiring, and self-negating.  Worse, its policies are mishmashes of inept half-measures that, with a handful of exceptions, produce little good for anyone (other than Wall Street, the Pentagon and other corporate interests).  They are perceived as — and are — beholden to Wall Street, special interests, and the corporations they vowed to confront.  They are without any ability to confront the massive unemployment crisis and financial decline the country faces.  And as a result of all of that, they lay in shambles.  Anyone who can survey all of that and cheer for the strategy which Democrats have been pursuing — let’s build our majorities by relying on GOP-replicating corporatist Blue Dogs — or who thinks that this election loss happened because “Democrats are too liberal,” resides in a world that has very little to do with reality.  And that’s true no matter how many times they repeat the simplistic snippets of exit polls to which they’ve obsessively attached themselves.

Eric, I didn’t come back to this thread, Simi Valley Comes To Oakland because the conversation was, frankly, so damned disgusting and offensive. Consequently, I didn’t see what Ernie Branscomb said about me that really emphasized the insults. Apparently he’d been conferring and, above all else, “siding with” Dave Stancliff and decided to try to get personal with me too. Even so, I’d like you two brilliant individuals, in view of the sentence just handed down, to tell everyone now, how I am exposed as “angry and paranoid” for reading something nonexistent into what you said, enough to need “help”? I certainly thought that, you above all others, would know and understand the difference between the “subject” and the “object.” Those that confuse the two, can’t tell themselves one from the other, what they think from who they are, by definition are “paranoid.” So, I’d like to know who is suffering the “fool” is now?

I am absolutely astounded at the things that you can read into the most generic of statements. I normally don’t suffer fools, and I see Eric has stopped rising to your bait, but you are just way too far out there to ignore any longer. If you are really as paranoid and angry as you seem you should seek help. Nobody said anything about siding with anybody… Got it? It’s simply a situation that could have, and should have been avoided. And many people are going to pay the price for losing control, the cop, the deceased, and the friends and family of both.

All Branscomb did was react by making unsubstantiated accusations and call me names and that is apparently okay with you. “Rising to” what “bait”? You guys made you’re statements that set the subject. NOT ME! I’ve known Ernie Branscomb since we were in school together. He was a meaningless mealy-mouthed jerk then and in 60 plus years degenerated into a real blue-ribbon specimen. As an attorney you should know, that if you’re going to say it you’d better be able to back it up. Otherwise none of this, you or your blogs, is about what you say, but rather about who you think you are. Certainly you know how far you get when you try (or if you ever tried) to push that crap on a Judge. Apparently Ernie Branscomb et. al. are unable to distinguish between discussing or commenting on subject issues and NOT getting or being personal. That condition is an affliction, and by definition, is paranoia. Based upon subsequent conversations, you mostly distinguished yourself above this kind of hyperbole. To “bait” someone is to get personal and NOT talk about the subject issue. I don’t talk to Branscomb, because he is essentially irrelevant. I do, occasionally as with you, make observations about some things you say or write.  You, however, if you thought I was getting personal or trying to “bait” you, all you had to do was say so and you wouldn’t have to worry about me gracing your blog with my “far out” comments and observations.

Joe Blow Speaks Up for Pat Buchanan

Not that he needs any help from us. Apparently, white men, in particular old white men, need someone to speak for them in this “pussy” dominated America.

Eric Kirk, the great authority on racism, racist, white people and men posted this, Pat Buchanan speaks up for the white folk . He did not provide any link for reference to his “excerpt”.

Joe Blow doesn’t know Eric Kirk personally, but if we were to guess we’d have to say he is, among other unmentionable things, mixed race and female and never met a real man in his life. His bio says he’s an “attorney,” so I would guess that says something about his class strictures. Here’s a copy of his post as of Thursday, February 24, 2009 with our compliments:

He’s our champion. What can I say?  After all these years of oppression, I can speak up as a white man.  We need more programs.  We need affirmative action!  We need media by and for white men who can speak to our concerns and experiences.  I feel so empowered!

Here’s an excerpt.

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks.It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no people anywhere have done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ‘ 60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks — with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas — to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.

We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude???

Where indeed?  Ingrates.

And later in the column he explains why we white men find black people so scary.  Black people need to think about that.  But I would criticize him for focusing on the anecdotal issues at the expense of the systemic discrimination against white people, especially white men.  We want equal representation in the Board rooms!  We want equal representation in Congress!  And I’m tired of security in the department stores not watching me closely when I walk in.  I want attention too!

What an effeminate like Kirk doesn’t seem to understand is the heritage carried by American men and women that battled to settle this country and passed down through their living offspring until today. Their true nature is not something you want to expose by going down that ridicule road. He and his kind just might find that the Pandora Box opened in Iraq becomes child’s play in this country, once the restraints are loosened and people decide it’s time for payback. It’s not like it hasn’t happened before in this country, including right here in Humboldt County.
