[Update Below]

Governments continue to alienate their people while they merrily go about their dark, covert dirty business of lying, deceiving, making deliberate false accusations to obfuscate their acts of war.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports today: Report: “U.S., Israeli warships cross Suez Canal toward Red Sea” – “Egypt opposition angered at government for allowing the fleet of more than 12 ships to cross Egyptian manned waterway, Al-Quds Al-Arabi (an independent pan-Arab daily newspaper published in London since 1989) reports.”

According to the report, thousands of Egyptian soldiers were deployed along the Suez Canal guarding the ships’ passage, which included a U.S. aircraft carrier.

Egyptian opposition members have criticized the government for cooperating with the U.S. and Israeli forces and allowing the ships’ passage through Egyptian territorial waters.

According to eyewitnesses, the U.S. battleships were the largest to have crossed the Canal in many years, Al-Quds reported.

As the US and Israel move to further threaten Iran, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday that US intelligence has learned that Iran has the capability to attack Europe with hundreds of missiles. The Jerusalem Post reports today that: Iran: “Our missiles are for defense

Official:US claims we can rain missiles down on Europe “deception.”

The Jerusalem Post also reports today: Iran: Sanctions reflect double standard” —“Teheran calls for investigation of Israeli nukes.”

So, what does the future hold for these might empires? How about a lesson from the past? The following commentary by someone that’s worked a lifetime in peace and conflict resolution spoke about the future of America in this world starting in Afghanistan:

I think it will end, by and large, the same way as Vietnam. That means United States becoming irrelevant.  ****

And to quote one important exchange of words in that remark, one of the last commanders in Vietnam on the American side said to the top person in North Vietnam, “You were never able to beat us in any open battle.” And the North Vietnamese response was “Correct, but it is irrelevant.” You can be a superpower as much as you want. You’re up against a force, incidentally, which has enormous amounts of world support. That simply is superior.

 It’s called the “silent treatment.”

The warmongers just keep pushing and pushing. Our beneficent and benevolent government representatives take the lead as they enforce the corrupt ruling elite’s longterm objectives. Here’s the update: Congress unveils hard-hitting Iran sanctions bill.

Almost President – Lunacy at it’s Best

John McCain: Mainstream Republican and Chuck Schumer: Mainstream Democrat — Put them in a bag, shake them up and they come out looking exactly the same.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t write about this quite like Glenn Greenwald does. So, here it is. Make’s you wonder when President Obama is going to bomb Iran.

John McCain on the Evil, Barbaric Iranians

by Glenn Greenwald – Salon.com

John McCain has a new article in The New Republic — which is exactly where it should be — calling for regime change in Iran.  The whole article contains one paragraph after the next of the favorite pastime of America’s political and media class:  self-righteously condemning other nations for what we ourselves do (at least) as much.  Of all McCain’s paragraphs, this is probably my favorite (h/t sandbun):

Is it any wonder that this is the same regime that spends its people’s precious resources not on roads, or schools, or hospitals, or jobs that benefit all Iranians — but on funding violent groups of foreign extremists who murder the innocent?

As the American war in Afghanistan enters its ninth full year and our occupation of Iraq its seventh, and as we continue to find all new ways to kill innocent civilians in various countries around the world, and as we continue to transfer billions of dollars every year to Israel and the Egyptian dictatorship — all while thinking about how to slash Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and thus erode the weak safety net even further, while confronting collapsing domestic infrastructure, rampant unemployment, and massive teacher lay-offs and even grade elimination for American children — is there any other country you can think of, besides Iran, which “spends its people’s precious resources not on roads, or schools, or hospitals, or jobs that benefit all [citizens]” but rather on wars and support for foreign groups which kill “the innocent”?  And over the last decade, what was the position of John McCain and his party on whether the “people’s precious resources” should be spent (a) on “roads, or schools, or hospitals, or jobs that benefit all” (see here) or (b) wars that kill the innocent

And then there’s this:

We — the government and the people of the United States — need to stand up for the Iranian people. We need to make their goals our goals, their interests our interests, their work our work.

Oh, yes — John McCain is so deeply concerned about the welfare of The Iranian People.  He just adores them.  That’s why his Siamese twin, Joe Lieberman, advocates that we bomb their country, while McCain merrilly sings songs about doing so.  The best way to show how noble and profoundly caring you are about other people is to bomb their country; they love that and it’s really, really good for them.  One other thing about the Iranians that McCain wants to note:

And is it any wonder that this Iranian regime has been, and will always be, uncompromising in its pursuit of a nuclear weapons capability . . . .

Those murderous monsters!  What kind of evil fanatics would want a nuclear weapons capability?  In the interview I just did with The Atlantic, I was asked:  “If you could correct one mis-impression among Americans that is exacerbated by media, what would it be?”  I replied:  “our media’s refusal to report that we ourselves frequently do exactly that which we like to believe only the Bad, Tyrannical countries do.”  Thank you to John McCain — and his like-minded friends at The New Republic — for providing such a classic illustration.

Is that the face of insanity? Mighty scary, if you ask me. These arrogant, simple-minded, Dark Age Barbarians are finally putting the truth out. What do they have to worry about? They think their in control. Ever since President Obama hupped to their little snare drum cadence, why would they worry about letting out the truth? Classic example of another corrupt would-be elite: Chuck Schumer: Mainstream Democrat – by Glenn Greenwald.

The hypocrisy of these corrupt elites is mind-boggling. The Jews whine about the Palestinians rejection of their right to take their land so as to become a legitimate nation-state in this world, but refuse to recognize that they took the Palestinians land to do so. The Jews that survived Hitler learned well.
