The Joe Blow Report 2

Everything Is About Something Different

What happened to Skylar Blue?

Year Two and then some

In all the days, weeks and months of reading the Times-Standard’s mountain of words – worthless opinions, social and economic critiques and suggestions, classified ads, food and gardening recipes and articles, art and other local stuff – if one mines the paper diligently there appears, once in a blue moon, something worth reading. I stumbled upon that little gem Tuesday, September 13, 2011, when I spotted a My Word by Skylar Blue – We are so much better than this. Problem is, I can’t find that My Word article posted anywhere on the Times-Standard web site. They certainly don’t have any problem prominently posting Dave Stancliff’s mostly irrelevant nonsensical dribble right out there next to the myriad other Opinionator blather and propaganda for everyone to read. Why is that?

Skylar Blue, whoever that may be, puts their thumb right on the heartbeat of the problem facing America today. More importantly, what’s facing everyone of us right here within the influencing space occupied by the Times-Standard. Are the people right here in Humboldt County going to settle for business as usual – voting for the “father knows best” elitist minority who tells everyone how to live, think and believe while looting your very last holey sock right out of your bedroom dresser? Or are the people going to stand up as legitimate citizens and demand their rights as equal individuals like Skylar Blue suggest? Or is everyone going to roll over like a mongrel dog and submit (compromise) because they can’t or won’t take responsibility for their lives?

This is the “Class War” everyone is involved in right now. I’ve looked and looked where the Times-Standard has published the My Word article on their web and I don’t find any mention. Why is that? I guess we know what side Dave Kuta and Kimberly Wear are on.

So in their place, without pointing the finger, the Joe Blow Report will post online what Skylar Blue says in that My Word commentary:

Many people spend too much time pointing the finger at one another, and I’m just sick of it. It does no good and wastes valuable energy and time. The ancient Aegean war principle of divide and conquer is at play here. Split people up into small groups, and they are easier to conquer while they fight amongst themselves. Make sure people are fearful, and you can bet on mob actions and insensibility’s.

Too many people have disconnected themselves, out of fear, from the rest of the world that they no longer can see past their computer or TV “news.” We’re all dying out here, and Congress spends their time reevaluating Roe vs. Wade. When you have th “Us vs. Them” mentality, it is so easy and cruel to find all the differences to point the finger. What has happened to the “we” mentality? We are so much better than this! What this country needs is community … the feeling that there is a place for everyone. We need to stop all this fear mongering caused by fringe groups and their vast media attention. Fear and anger go hand-in-hand, and ultimately lead to violence. We’ve seen this before. Is that really what we want? Taking your mind off what really needs to be done my the constant influx of bad ideas and information is all that is passing for news these days.

This is a time in history when we really need each other. We can’t expect kindness if we don’t initiate kindness. Why must we continue to slap in the face anyone who we think lives differently than we do? We are all just trying to survive this self-made economic disaster and learn how to never do this again. We may not know what to do, but we now know what not to do and can continue from there. Isn’t that how most of people learn?

We can no longer throw whole groups of people under the bus because of the thoughtless man-made fears that we should abort from our lives forever one by one. We are not sheep and we need only follow the road of community and trust again. Can you trust any politician any more? They’re just hearing the same crap we are on what passes for news these days. It wasn’t always like this. This will all end one day because we all know one thing for sure … we are all better than this!

Are we all REALLY better than this? Personally, I don’t think so.

It doesn’t hurt anyone to hope, but “hope” only goes so far when that “hope” is based on the offerings of liars. Maybe there is hope in the young people coming to terms with believing in themselves. They certainly will not get such confidence in the older generation – their parents. It’s time to put the authoritarian, dictatorial, Dark Age Believer where they belong – on the mantel with all the other “has been wannabe” tenny tiny little gods.
